Encountering God in Faith

Here is what our friend Fr. Jim Gardiner, SA had to say about where he encountered God this year:

This time last year, if I had been asked about a Year of Faith, I would have done my best to discourage it. We’d had the Year of Paul, the U.N. had the Year of the Potato, and we’d just got done with the Year of the Priest. And now this?

Besides, shouldn’t every year be a Year of Faith?

Tying it to the 50th anniversary of the opening of Vatican II, however, made the difference.

Talk about encountering God! We need to prolong the encounter by making sure that what Vatican II accomplished is a benchmark, rather than a high water mark!
