Full-Time Domestic Volunteer Program
FMS offers an opportunity for young lay Catholics to engage in one year of full-time service in our administrative offices in Washington, DC. Depending on the specific gifts and skills that each domestic volunteer brings, they assist with a variety of projects in the office including: communications, fundraising, social media, recruiting, event planning, website development, grant writing, and lay mission program support for FMS.

Community Life:
FMS’ domestic volunteers live together in an intentional community, emphasizing St. Francis’ model of simplicity. Each volunteer has a private bedroom and shares common spaces such as the kitchen, living room, and bathrooms. The volunteers eat dinner together in community, providing time for sharing and the opportunity to nurture friendships beyond that which happens in the office. Each volunteer generally contributes $20 per week for groceries and everyone rotates cooking duties. The domestic volunteers also gather one evening a week for sharing and reflection.
Benefits:
- Volunteer in a vibrant, mission-focused office
- Housing with a fully-furnished bedroom
- Modest monthly stipend

- At least one staff retreat per year
- Free parking if you bring a car (although it’s not necessary)
