Promoting Peace and Justice
- On August 28, 2010 FMS staff, missioners, and friends planted a Peace Pole in a small "Peace Garden" at our office and missioner training center in Washington, DC. The pole serves a constant visual prayer for peace. Guests and passersby are invited to leave their own prayer for peace in the garden. Click here to leave your own words or prayer for peace on our ongoing "Prayers for Peace" page.

- Our Executive Director, Kim Smolik, continually emphaizes the importance of racial justice advocacy, particularly in the training of lay missioners. Click here to read a discussion article between Kim and Mike Wilker, Executive Director of Lutheran Volunteer Corps, where they openly dialogue about racial justice and its presence in faith based volunteer & mission work.
