Facilitated by an FMS staff member in collaboration with the Carmen Pampa campus of the Catholic University of Bolivia, the 2018 Short-Term Mission and Global Awareness trip will provide opportunities for cross-cultural exchange and pastoral theological reflection, information by Catholic Social Teaching, on the economic and social realities facing many Bolivians today.  


By immersing yourself in the life of a university founded by Franciscan sisters for first-generation students from rural villages, you will not only gain an understanding of the challenges and joys that characterize the Carmen Pampa community, but will also gain a deeper understanding of how certain human experiences transcend borders.  You will also lend a hand with work on campus (e.g.-gardening, child care, English club) and attend cultural activities.

  • Step 1: Complete the application and return to Meghan Meros at meghan@franciscanmissionservice.org
    • Application deadline: March 12, 2018
    • Priority given to applicants who have previously expressed interest in a short-term trip and who submit their applications by February 20, 2018. 
  • Step 2: Secure your reservation with a deposit of $725, due by March 15, 2018
  • Step 3: Participate in a pre-trip webinar, obtain needed vaccines, and submit visa paperwork to Franciscan Mission Service
  • Step 4: Purchase flights, in consultation with Franciscan Mission Service
