Activities Coordinator

Christ House

Develop your programming skills by planning and coordinating activities for patients at Christ House, a short-term respite facility for people experiencing homelessness with acute medical needs. Create programming that provides opportunities for community-building, creative expression, positive social interaction, leisure, education, and diversion, all as a means to enhance the quality of patients' lives and further their recovery.

Advocacy Associate

Franciscan Action Network

Transform your passion for justice into concrete action by assisting with Franciscan Action Network's many advocacy efforts including racial justice, climate, migration, democracy and voting rights, and economic justice. Gain hands-on experience in advocacy work in the nation's capital by making calls or visits to government or congressional offices; assisting with communications, outreach, and events; and building and maintaining the organization's national partnerships.

Case Management Assistant

Christ House

Develop your skills in the field of social services alongside a devoted team supporting men experiencing homelessness. Accompany patients to case management appointments. Advocate for clients by ensuring that clients receive benefits such as Medicaid and Social Security along with support from other government and community agencies.

Generalist

Support the many programs provided by Christ House while learning the inner workings of a nonprofit. Provide administrative support for programming like patient activities and the Kairos permanent supportive housing program. Gain valuable nonprofit experience be assisting with development, volunteer coordination, donation management, and social media.

Use your writing, marketing and graphic design skills to raise awareness about FMS' ministries and the ways volunteers and missioners are living a ministry of presence in the United States and abroad. Help improve the lives of clients and witness the impact of food and nutrition on those living with HIV/AIDS, cancer, and other life-challenging illnesses in the DC, Maryland, and Virginia area. Support new clients as you listen to their unique stories and provide orientations to Food and Friends’ services. Carry out first-day deliveries to new clients and assist with special programs while compassionately building relationships with diverse populations.

Measure and record vital signs, assist patients with activities of daily living, and support patients in attending scheduled meetings and meals.
