How are we called to be spiritually bold?

It's a question for all seasons. It's a question for a lifetime! Answers come though prayer, discernment, and listening--practices which sit at the heart of Franciscan Mission Service's ministries overseas and in the United States. Below, we share some resources, developed by or in partnership with Franciscan Mission Service, to support you in your own spiritual practice.

Simplicity Reflection Guide

We invite you to join this 5-day retreat in daily life, focused on simplicity. This reflection booklet is intended to be both a prayer guide and a journal, as you journey with us in our Franciscan identity of honoring simplicity.

Spiritual Boldness Reflection Guide

As part of our 2018 Summer Appeal, we called together the Franciscan Mission Service community and asked "How are we called to be spiritually bold?" Below you'll find a digital reflection booklet created around the Franciscan theme of care for creation as an entry point for reflection on this important question. Designed as a 6-day mini retreat, the booklet includes prayers, spiritual reflections, and journaling prompts guided by the realities of our overseas lay missioners and DC volunteers. Please feel free to download a PDF version to print and use in your own prayer.

A Lenten Journey: Reflections on the Scriptural Stations of the Cross

First celebrated by Pope John Paul II on Good Friday in 1991, the Scriptural Stations of the Cross invite us into deeper reflection on Christ's passion, as presented in Scriptural accounts. Developed through the creative, prayerful collaboration of volunteers, volunteer alumni, and staff from volunteer programs in the Franciscan Service Network, "A Lenten Journey" features contributions by members of the Franciscan Mission Service family and is a beautiful prayer aid for our own Lenten journeys.
