On Sunday, November 14, 2010, FMS commissioned its 26th class of mission candidates: Sandra and Bryce Bradford and Susan Slavin. The ceremony took place on a beautiful autumn day at St. Camillus Church in Silver Spring, MD. Fr. Joe Nangle presided over the mass that honored the mission candidates’ completion of the 13-week long intensive formation program and signified their spiritual readiness for mission abroad.

Bryce and Sandra will travel to Sowezi, Zambia this January, while Susan Slavin will be delaying her mission to Nairobi as she accompanies her mother in her final stages of life. Our prayers go with our missioners as they wait in anticipation and prepare themselves for three years of overseas mission in the spirits of St. Francis and Clare.

Missioner Candidate Bryce Bradford stands before the congregation for the first reading.

Susan Slavin receives a blessing from Fr. Joe Nangle, OFM.

Mission Candidate Sandra Bradford joyfully receives her Tau Cross from Rhegan Hyypio.

Rhegan Hyypio, FMS Return Missioner, prays alongside the 26th Missioner Class, that she guided over 13 weeks, as they await their commissioning.

Our mission candidates, called to be a living presence and accompany God’s people, stand before the congregation of St. Camillus.
