Franciscan Friday: Relating to God and each other

FMS hosted our inaugural Sunday Souposium this week as an opportunity for lay and religious Franciscans and Franciscan-hearted people to gather casually for soup, bread, a reflection and small group discussion.

We were honored to have Sr. Margaret Mary Kimmins, OSF, share with us a reflection called,”Francis in his time, Franciscan in our time.” Central to her talk was the idea that St. Francis felt called to imitate the way Jesus lived because his relationship was so strong. As Franciscans, we are called to be in relationship to God and to imitate Jesus as well.

Here are three excerpts from her poignant stories about her life as a Franciscan Sisters of Allegany for the past 48 years.

For more Franciscan discussion, join us Feb. 26 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Casa San Salvador for our next Souposium.  Br. Dan Horan, OFM will present, “What Does it Mean to ‘Date’ God? Prayer as Relationship in the Franciscan Tradition.”

We prepare and support lay Catholics for two-year international, one-year domestic and 1-2 week short-term mission service opportunities in solidarity with impoverished and marginalized communities across the globe.

The blog is maintained by the communications staff.
