However God is calling you to love your neighbors, we have an opportunity for you:
Long-term Overseas Mission
Inspired by Saint Francis and Saint Clare of Assisi, FMS supports lay Catholics (ages 22-late 60s) who accompany marginalized communities in Bolivia, Jamaica, Washington, DC, and along the US-Mexico border. With a Franciscan posture of humility, FMS missioners enter as guests in another community and cultivate authentic relationships based on mutuality and compassionate presence. Our missioners share God’s love through supporting locally-run ministries. Those who serve with FMS become “lifelong missioners” as they integrate the lessons learned into their lives, transforming home communities by promoting peace, justice, reconciliation, and care of creation.
DC Service Corps
Build a foundation for a lifelong commitment to social activism and your Catholic faith through a meaningful year of direct service, sharing your unique gifts and skills with various ministry sites in Washington, DC.
Spend 35 hours a week serving at the FMS headquarters or with partner agencies in a variety of roles. In addition, the program includes regular prayer, reflection, discussion, and relationship-building. Simple living in an intentional community rounds out this transformative experience.
FRANCISCAN MISSION FELLOWS
Franciscan Mission Service is now accepting applications for its year-long fellowship program. Through monthly in-person gatherings in the Washington, DC area, Fellows discover how to apply the Franciscan Charism in the midst of daily life and are strengthened in their capacity to live out their baptismal call to mission. The application is brief, and program participation is free.
